COVID-19 Vaccination Programme
COVID-19 vaccination is safe and effective. It gives you the best protection against serious COVID-19 illness.
Recommended COVID-19 vaccination depends on your age and if you're at higher risk from COVID-19.
This can include getting:
- a booster dose
- dose 1, dose 2, or dose 3
- an additional dose if you have a weak immune system
- booster doses if you are pregnant
Primary Course
The first round of vaccination is for people who haven’t had a COVID-19 vaccine yet. To get your first round of COVID-19 vaccination, you must be age 6 months or older.
A primacy course is in pharmacy:
- for people 12 years and older
- you must wait at least 4 weeks since you tested positive for COVID-19 or developed symptoms or 4 weeks from your first positive PCR/Antigen test if you did not have symptoms if 30 years and over and for those aged 5 to 29 at least 8 weeks
Dose intervals between your first and second dose depend on your age for anyone 30 years and older it is 4 weeks and for those 5 to 29 it is 8 weeks.
People under 16 must attend their booster appointment with a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian will need to give consent for their child’s vaccination.
Booster Dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine
The protection from previous doses or a COVID-19 infection may weaken over time. Booster doses help boost your antibodies and give you good protection from becoming seriously ill or needing to go to the hospital if you get COVID-19.
A first booster is recommended for all adults aged 18 years and older.
After this, seasonal boosters are recommended for some people at higher risk of COVID-19 illness.
